INTRODUCTION AND STUDY

The extremely interesting thing about the Lord Jesus Christ is that He has power to do anything that is good and right. But He also has wisdom and knowledge, and so He knows everything that has to be done for the good and the welfare of the people, the animals, the world, and all the life forms He created.Believers have freeomB

He knows what is the most important need that people have. That need is to know Him through and through and to learn to trust Him and depend on Him more and more. This is something we cannot avoid if we want to live a good and pleasant life that is pleasing to God the Father for we all know that life has many twists and turns and trouble seems to spring up from places we do not expect.

In our Study we learn about a powerful nobleman who was working with the ruler appointed by the Romans to run the nation of Judah. He was powerful and could get the best help to solve any problem he had. But suddenly one day his beloved son got critically ill and was about to die. The Doctors could not save him, and no medicine could stop his approaching death.

But there was hope for the nobleman heard that Jesus was 25 miles away in Cana of Galilee where Jesus had turned water into wine at a marriage feast. He had heard that Jesus could work miracles and could heal. So he investigated who Jesus was. His faith in Jesus was weak but that was enough for him to travel to see Jesus for himself and beg for Jesus’ help to save his beloved little son.

But he ran into a problem when he asked Jesus to come to his home in the town on Capernaum to heal his son. Jesus seemed to rebuke him and all the people aroundfor believing only in the importance and the need for signs and wonders and miracles. That seemed harsh and insensitive to the nobleman but those words from Jesus did not him from continuing to beg Jesus for His help.

So to get the nobleman to understand that Jesus was the Word of God and that He had life and power under His control Jesus simply told the man to go home and that his son lived.

You would expect that this nobleman would have expected Jesus to come with him to his house and do the healing miracle there, but now he heard Jesus just saying a Word to heal his son though the sick son was 25 miles away.

The man believed Jesus. He did not doubt Jesus’ power and who Jesus really was. His faith grew more and more and it was far better than the faith that the people around had in Jesus. This was remarkable for the Spirit of God had filled this man and so he overcame any doubt and fear he had and he believed the Word that Jesus had spoken to heal his son.

He did not rush home right away but seemed to have stayed a while with Jesus. When he reached home in Capernaum the next day this nobleman’s servants met him and told him that his son lived and did not die. The nobleman asked the servants when the boy suddenly got better and he was told it was at the 7th hour of the day before. The nobleman did his calculations and that confirmed that the 7th hour was the precise time Jesus had healed his son and told him to go home for his son lived.

The man now knew a lot about Jesus than when he started to travel to get Jesus’ help and his weak faith became strong faith. He told his family everything that happened and they all believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and was saved. Scholars believed that this man and his family who was in the court of the rulers became strong believers in Christ and supported Jesus financially and witnessed in the Early Church with other prophets.

We learn from this Study to be persistent In asking God for help when troubles come. They will come. We cannot by ourselves handle most of the trouble we will meet. Faith in God is therefore most important for God will always look after His childrenJesusJItIFaith, trust, persistence in asking God for His help is the best. We must constantly pray to Him and honestly tell Him everything we are feeling. Then we will find our faith and trust in Him will grow more and more till our faith reaches the perfect level that God wants it to reach. So pray, trust, and obey Him for there is no other way to be happy.God also has done great things for usG
