INTRODUCTION

The LORD is the Creator of all things in the universe and He is infinite in power, wisdom, knowledge, ability. He is majesty itself, and that means He has dazzling beauty and splendour. Holiness and separation from evil and what is wrong is an essential part of Him. So also is love and compassion for what He has created. That is why we call Him Father. The Heavenly Father is spirit, completely different from us. He knows everything about us. He made us out of the dust of the earth and filled us with the breath of life. But He made us in His image and likeness and so we can communicate with Him and have fellowship with Him.

We communicate with Him by prayer which helps us. We are like our children who talk to their parents on all kinds of matters because they are in an intimate relationship.

We therefore pray often. Then sometimes before we do some praying, we fast, that is, we do not eat much and stop concentrating on material needs so that we can focus on Him and enjoy our relationship with Him.

We also remember that He loves us so much He has sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to take our sins on Him so that we will not be punished and face death. He has forgiven us of our sins. Since we are in His family and are being changed to share in His beauty and become more and more like the Lord Jesus Christ, we will forgive others for the wrongs they did to us. We show by this that we love what He has done for us and we want to feel love like Him and so behave like Him.

We also do acts of charity and love, helping others that are in need. He provides our needs and so we join Him in providing for the needs of others as far as we are able.

So read verses 9 through 15 in this chapter 6 in the book of Matthew for Jesus has given us a model prayer. We do not have to repeat it word for word all the time. But we understand what we should be feeling and doing. So we pray in that manner for this prayer helps us to be right on target showing we are growing to be like the Lord Jesus Christ. We will show forgiveness that people in the kingdom of God will show. This is a part of the loving nature of God and it is part of our new nature
