James 3: 17

INTRODUCTION

People tend to make judgments about others based on their personality, their skill in public speaking, their ability to persuade people to accept what they want them to believe even if they are telling untruths and are making promises which they do not intend to keep. We might even suspect that they have been making these promises which are false because of what they have done in the past.

But for some reason we like to believe these false promises. People do these things because they are using a wisdom which has been given to them by Satan even though they might not know where the source of their bad behaviour comes from. But then some are well aware that they are deliberately not telling the truth and they are using all their skills to cover up their bad intentions.

But the Scriptures tell us that there are two kinds of wisdom. One kind of wisdom makes people able to fool others and persuade others to do what is wrong and what is not good for them. This kind of wisdom is hostile to God.

The other kind of wisdom is the one that God gives and it is good for it makes you live in a way that is in agreement with God and what He wants. You will be humble because you know God loves you and will always do the best for you. So you can trust Him.

This kind of wisdom from God makes you live at peace with yourself and you will not be always confused, fearful, and scared and not know what you are doing. You will be wise and know how to avoid getting into trouble with other people. In fact with this wisdom people will grow to care for you.

It makes you calm, kind and gentle and helpful to others. This ability develops more and more as you grow older.

This wisdom from God will make you show that your conduct is good.

It will teach you patience for you need that because sometimes you will get so excited about a holiday or vacation trip coming up, or a party that is coming up, and it stresses you out so much that you keep asking your mom or dad everyday how many days are left before the time comes? Or if we are on a long car ride you keep asking mom and dad ,” Are we there yet?

Learning patience is a good thing and it is something that you develop as you keep reading your Bible and praying to God for Him to help you.

The more you pray to God the more you will learn not to grumble against things and against your friends and your family.

You will learn not to be restless and tempted to complain. You will instead look forward to the good things that are going to happen and you will encourage others to wait for the good things too. Everybody will thank you for that kind of wisdom which you are showing.

But remember this kind of wisdom comes from God and you have to keep reading your Bible and praying to God for His help in growing up as a good and gentle person.

Remember then the opposite to be gentle is fighting, yelling all the time, hitting others, kicking others and making yourself and others around you very happy. So avoid that bad kind of wisdom.

You should show your good nature and happy life by being gentle and kind. You should be patient and encouraging others to do good.

Your Scripture Text summarizes all of these good things and reminds you that the good wisdom comes from God, while the bad kind of wisdom comes from Satan.
